  • What's your cancellation policy?
    If you need to cancel a service, please do so promptly. Cancellations within 12 hours for infrared sauna services could incur a 50% charge. Failure to provide notice or providing less than 1 hour's notice for an appointment, or missing an appointment, may lead to a full-price charge. Kaarta Studio retains the right to apply charges for appointments cancelled within 12 hours of the scheduled start time.
  • What are the Terms & Conditions?
    All Infrared Sauna sessions are 45 minutes and all Ice Plunge sessions are 15 minutes. If you are late, you can still use the service for your allocated time however you will still need to finish at the same time to allow for the space to be cleaned for the next client. We will endeavour to provide you with your sauna room of choice but from time to time that room may not be available. Packages are not transferrable or refundable. You may be charged the full service fee for a no show. Please remove any fake tan before entering the sauna. Gift Vouchers are valid for 3 years from date of purchase. Once recipient has redeemed code for package, the expiry of package becomes valid for 120 days. No person under 16 is permitted in the studio. Due to strict insurance requirements, Kaarta Studio will not and is unable to allow children under the age of 16 even if accompanied by an adult.
  • How frequently should I use the sauna?
    There is no right answer here, it is personal choice and preference, though depending on your health and wellness goals, it is reccomended to use an Infrared Sauna 2-3 times per week to see and feel the benefits. Infrared Saunas are safe to use every day of a maximum of 45-minutes per session. Usage frequency is flexible. While we recommend twice a week, daily sauna sessions are possible if desired. Incorporate it into your routine, similar to exercise. More frequent use may be helpful if you have specific health goals.
  • What's appropriate to wear in the sauna?
    Since our sauna rooms are private, you can choose to wear as much or as little clothing as you prefer though underwear must be worn. We provide Eco towels for your use. If you're with a friend, swimwear is a practical option. We recommend bringing loose clothing for after your sauna session to avoid the challenge of putting on tight garments while still feeling warm.
  • What about EMF exposure?
    At Kaarta Studio we use Clearlight® Saunas. Their True Wave® far infrared and full spectrum infrared heaters are the most effective and safest infrared heaters available. Clearlight® Sauna models are the ONLY infrared sauna that cancels out both EMF and ELF. All Clearlight® Sauna models offer the lowest and safest EMF and ELF levels of any infrared sauna on the market, bar none. The EMF levels in your Clearlight® Premier Saunas and Clearlight® Sanctuary Saunas will be mostly below 1mg when tested directly on the heater itself. Where you are sitting in the sauna, the EMF levels are virtually 0mg. The ELF levels in your Clearlight® Sauna are 3 – 5 times below the threshold of concern.
  • What distinguishes an infrared sauna from a traditional sauna?
    A traditional sauna employs hot rocks to elevate air temperature, causing you to feel hot due to the heated air. In contrast, an infrared sauna emits infrared waves that deeply penetrate your body's cells, heating you at a cellular level. This rise in body temperature offers numerous advantages, including heightened immune function, decreased inflammation, inherent detoxification, alleviation of pain, and an increase in Vitamin D synthesis. Breathing is more comfortable in an infrared sauna compared to a traditional one, and the heat is often better tolerated.
  • What is the difference between the small and large sauna?
    The small infrared saunas can fit a maximum of 2 people, however it is much more comfortable for 1 person. The large infrared saunas can fit a maximum of 4 people. Our large saunas can also be turned into your own private movement room. We remove the seats so you have the space and freedom to move, stretch & sweat!
  • Who should consult a doctor before using the sauna?
    Consultation with a doctor is recommended for: Children under 18 Individuals over 65 Those with cardiovascular conditions, on blood-thinning medication, hemophiliacs, or bleeding-prone individuals Pregnant women (infrared sauna use should be avoided) Individuals with chronic health conditions If uncertain about sauna use, consulting a doctor is advisable.
  • Do I need to bring anything?
    We offer filtered water, towels, reading materials, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, moisturizer, and a hairdryer. There's typically no need to bring anything. Comfortable clothing is advisable.
  • Is the sauna kept clean?
    We meticulously clean our saunas after each use using Koala Eco products made with concentrated essential oils that are eco-friendly and ethical. The saunas are constructed from the finest Eco-certified Western Red Canadian Cedar, known for its natural antibacterial properties. Infrared lighting also acts as a natural disinfectant.
  • Is there a shower? Should I shower after using the sauna?
    An infrared sauna raises your core body temperature, which can be lowered by showering right after or during the sauna session. Research indicates that refraining from showering allows your core temperature to remain elevated for 30-60 minutes post-sauna. However, recognising busy lifestyles, use of our saunas include the use of our shower. For those using the sauna with a friend you will need to take turns showering as we only have one available shower.
  • What is Red Light therapy?
    Red light therapy, or photobiomodulation, involves exposing the skin to red and near-infrared light. This stimulates cells, aiding recovery and boosting vitality. This therapy is particularly effective for skin problems by promoting the production of healthy cells and enhancing cellular function.
  • What are the benefits of Red Light therapy?
    Research indicates that red light therapy activates cells for self-repair, bolstering primary functions with increased ATP levels. This spurs cell migration and growth. Combined with better blood flow, red light therapy offers versatile treatment for various issues. Elevated cell energy aids healing and reproduction, making it effective for concerns like osteoarthritis, hair loss, pain, carpal tunnel, wounds, scars, psoriasis, sun damage, collagen boost, wrinkle reduction, and diverse skin conditions. Red light therapy optimizes sleep patterns, counters blue light's effects on eyes and circadian rhythm.
  • How long should I remain in the ice bath?
    For safety, it’s advisable to start with shorter sessions, typically lasting 1-2 minutes, and gradually extend your duration over time. Instead of focusing solely on time, it’s more beneficial to pay attention to your mind and notice the points at which your mind urges you to exit while your body remains safe.
  • What are the benefits of taking an ice bath?
    Taking an ice bath offers several advantages, including reducing muscle soreness and inflammation, enhancing circulation, bolstering immune function, and sharpening mental clarity and focus. Athletes and fitness enthusiasts often utilize ice baths to expedite post-workout or post-competition recovery. Additionally, ice baths are popular among individuals seeking stress reduction, dopamine enhancement, and mindset improvement.
  • What is Contrast Therapy?
    Contrast therapy involves alternating between hot and cold temperatures for therapeutic purposes. It is commonly employed in physical therapy, sports medicine, and rehabilitation to enhance circulation, alleviate muscle soreness and pain, and expedite injury healing. Additionally, contrast therapy is effective for calming the mind, reducing stress, and building resilience.
  • What is the temperature of the ice bath at Kaarta Studio?
    The temperature of the ice bath at Kaarta Studio ranges from zero to 10 degrees Celsius.
  • Is an ice bath safe, and who should avoid it?
    While ice baths can be uncomfortable, they are generally safe for most individuals. However, if you have medical conditions affecting your circulation or cold tolerance, consult your doctor before attempting an ice bath. It’s essential to avoid ice baths if you are pregnant, have heart conditions, suffer from Raynaud’s disease, have hypothermia, open wounds or sores, or are currently ill. Consulting with your healthcare provider is advisable, particularly if you have underlying medical concerns.
  • Can I experience the Fire & Ice with friends?
    Yes, we can accomodate two people in both our infrared sauna and ice bath. However, if you need to shower we only have one shower available.
  • How is the ice bath cleaned?
    Our Odin Ice bath has an inbuilt fully automated filtration and sanitisation system. It hosts a 50-micron filter, an ozone generator and a UV light to sanitise the water. Designed to be left running 24/7, the system keeps the water circulating and sanitised for a crystal-clear plunge.
  • What attire should I wear when using an ice bath?
    Swimwear is suitable attire for ice baths.
  • How often should I use an ice bath?
    The frequency of ice bath usage depends on your personal goals and preferences. Some individuals use ice baths daily, while others use them less frequently. It’s crucial to listen to your body and avoid excessive cold exposure, which can be harmful.
  • What is an ice bath?
    An ice bath, also known as cold therapy, involves immersing your body (up to your neck) in water chilled to temperatures ranging from 0 to 10 degrees Celsius. The ice bath we offer at Kaarta Studio is the Odin Ice Bath.
  • What should I bring with me?
    Please your swimwear and a towel if you wish - however we do provide Eco Towels for our guests.
